Hailing doesn't work, they still keep declaring war...>.<. And the tractor beam is on one of the Earth colonies, I think. Not sure which one.

There are two locations for the tractor beam, one in the earth system on the station and I think one in Cardasia... could be worng on the second location bu I know there are two. The tractor beam is really kind of useless.
The way this game is balanced it is actually easier to take over huge galactic capitols like Vulcan and Qonos than lesser planets like Andoria. They way you decrease a planets power is by destroying ships allied to that planet, that larger the ship, the greater the decrease. On planets like Qonos almost every ship is either a captial ship or a cruiser and they are worth 100 and 50 point respectivley. So all you do is barge in there with a full fleet of captiol ships (in my case Soverigns) and destroy all the basses. One all of the bases are destroyed you get a message that says a large fleet has entered the system, then just have at it. Your fleet is most effective when you instruct them to converge on a single target. So I like to install a cloaking device on my flagship and then just intruct the battle from there. Ususally the enemy ships target you first so the cloaking device makes it easier to direct the battle. From there you just sit bakc and scout out large ships, target them, and give your fleet the order to attack you target. Nothing will be able to survive more than a second or two.

In this way I have taken over all of the major galatic captiols in the galaxy: Qonos, Romulus, Cardassia, Earth, Vulcan etc. The planets which are impossible to take over are the smaller ones like Andoria (7000 strength) but only have little cargo ships in the system. These are worth at max 30 points. Unless the planet has a strength of less than 2000, it would take sooo long to take over these smaller planets.

A lysian ship is worth 10 points...and it's easy to destroy their starbase.

I've found that it's possible to destroy enemy ships and not lower your prestige at all. Just take a fleet in, cloak yourself, target the enemy ship, and press 2. Since they didn't see you do it, prestige stays the same. ^^

i find the best way to get at a weak planet with just trade ships is either simply flood their planet with as many powerful ships as you humanly can or just use the thaleron generator in their system constanly, if placed right can really do damage time and time again, but will absoutely kill your prestigen (even with thaleron test facility pass thingy) just use your ships to cover you (make sure you use inexpensive ones, like a saber class or even a lysian ship! *faint* Just bring billions of them along to keep them occupied. or have them focus round one area and when all the ships come to attack them use the generator right on the center ;D

Yeah the balancing in this game needs alot of work. At the rate I'm going, its going to take me literally weeks to take over Bajor. Either destroying bases needs to just cripple a planet (what I suggest) or ships need to be worth alot more. It would make things alot more interesting. If a planet looses all of its bases, it should be ready to fall. The same should go for your own home planet. Its kind of boring never having any of your own planets come under any real threat. Sure they "attack" but it doesn't do anything.

Nope. Nothing at all. I've tried to befriend the Lysians, in order to try and stop the billions of little ships from swarming my planets. Even though I'm at 113%, they're still attacking. >.< Stupid Lysians. And thanks to my little befriending scheme, the Lysians now possess around 30 Advanced Turrets, with which to own the Earth fleets. xD Along with the Bajorans, they're the only independent race that won't join you from building bribery. The Lysians aren't really a factor in combat but that Starbase is there. The strength may be frozen as this game does still have minor bugs. As for the Bajorans, it's more profitable to befriend them. It takes half an hour to wipe out their planet, and their people will continue to raid your planets even afterwards.

your wrong about attacks from people not doing much... I have a huge empire running at the moment, and i get attacked so much! I have the bajorans, the dominion, thaolian syndicate and the romulans. Every now and then a dyson sphere on anyone of my planets gets blown up (like everyday or something) its getting really crazy and even my elite fleet cant seem to do much! Its chaos but i am slowly turn the table..

Then grab two dozen dreadnaughts and raze one of the empires out. At this point, I picked a fight with the Borg and warped in with enough of a fleet to slaughter a dozen Cubes with no ships lost.

errr...ally with empires? the only dudes i have are klingons and half their race hates me!!!! (im very power hungry, its the fall of eearths empire scenario all over again!!!) Im losing because eventually the fleets that attack my planets somehow destroy the dyson spheres. At the moment im trying to take over my enemys, klingons dont really attack me much (neither do humans) the only people i consider as ok would be cardissians. Which im neutral with (but theyll be mine soon when i elminate the bajorans the cardissians enemy and become their new leader!!
